Forest School at Mia's Wood
We are very keen to make Mia's Wood accessible to the community, and have discovered that Forest School is one of the ways we can do this.
While we are very much at the beginning of our own Forest School journey, it very much aligns with our own ambition to bring the wonder of nature to children. It can perhaps best be described as "a learner-centred approach which interweaves the ever-changing moods and marvels, potential and challenges of the natural world through the seasons to fill every session with discovery and difference."
Mia's Wood is a small, secure site without the danger of running water, with plenty of bugs and plants and mud for children to enjoy exploring. We also have
-
an Outdoor Music Station
-
a wonderful Mud Kitchen
-
a ‘Campfire’ Circle
-
a Digging Pit, known affectionately as Muddy Puddles
We have had our very first Forest School at Mia's Wood since October 2015, and in 2016, we have subsequently linked with two more local schools who want to enjoy Mia's Wood while their own on-site Forest School sites are being established.
